Scholarship

To accomplish its mission of advancing Jewish Studies research and teaching and fostering a greater understanding of Jewish Studies, some of the AJS's initiatives to support Jewish Studies scholarship include:

Annual Conference

With more than 1,200 attendees, over 190 sessions, a major book exhibit of leading publishers, cultural programming, and a gala banquet, the AJS Annual Conference is the largest and most unique opportunity for Jewish Studies scholars to gather.

Publications

The publications of the Association for Jewish Studies are leading forums for exploring cutting-edge Jewish Studies scholarship and critical issues in Jewish Studies methodology and pedagogy.

Fellowships, Awards, and Grants

The AJS offers grants to its members to support conference, travel, and scholarly publications—including the Jordan Schnitzer Book Awards that recognize and promote outstanding scholarship in the field of Jewish Studies and honor scholars whose work embodies the best in the field: innovative research, excellent writing, and sophisticated methodology.
