[CFP Journal] Jewish Religious Thought & Practice and Academic Jewish Studies

Religious Studies and Theology, a Canadian academic journal with a 40-year history of exploring the inter-related disciplines of theology and academic religious studies, invites submissions for a special issue.

We invite unpublished, original research addressing ways in which academic Jewish Studies have had an impact on Jewish religious thought and practice—and vice versa.

In addition, for the section “Reflections from the Field”, we invite personal essays on teaching, thinking, and living in the intersection between Jewish Studies and Jewish life.

And we invite reviews of recent books, films, or digital media exploring overlaps, connections, and conflicts between Jewish Studies and Judaism.

Research articles should be 3000–6000 words in length and must include an abstract of approximately 150 words, keywords, and a list of works cited. They will be evaluated through a double-blind peer review process.

Reflections from the Field and book/media reviews will be evaluated by the editors. Reflections from the Field should be 1000–3000 words; reviews, 600–1000 words.

All submissions are to be made through the online portal, see https://journal.equinoxpub.com/RST/about/submissions. The deadline for this special issue is August 1, 2024. For accepted articles, publication within this calendar year or early 2025 can be expected.

Please address any questions to the editor of the special issue, Justin Jaron Lewis (Religion / Judaic Studies, University of Manitoba), JustinJaron.Lewis@umanitoba.ca, 204-474-8696.
