Kineret Noam. Seven Illustrated Furs, 2019. Illustration printed in hot press on linen fabric. 47.2 x 70.9 in. The work was done as part of a final project In the Visual Communication Department at Bezalel directed by Sharon Etgar. © 2019 Kineret Noam. Courtesy of the artist.
KINERET NOAM grew up in a religious home. As a child, Yom Kippur was a dramatic and ecstatic event. She created a series of seven decorated Torah ark covers illustrated around the question, “What’s happening in the sky on Yom Kippur,” from a changing perspective. The illustrations consist of ornaments from the Jewish tradition and are based on descriptions from the Talmud, Kabbalistic texts, the prayer cycle, and childhood memories.
