The AJS needs your help: many panels do not have chairs and we are seeking AJS members to fill these gaps in the program. This is a great opportunity for those who were unable to submit a presentation but who wish to participate, for younger scholars/grad students to gain additional exposure to more senior scholars/presenters, or for those who wish to attend sessions outside of their field -- there are many benefits to serving as session chair and we hope many of you will respond to this need.
Chairs are responsible for reaching out to presenters in advance to gather speakers' biographical information and for circulating papers or slides, particularly in sessions with respondents. During the conference, Chairs introduce speakers, manage speaking time, and moderate the Q&A portion of each session.
Please note that
1) Chairs must be or become AJS members
2) An individual may not serve as the chair on the panel on which they are presenting.
3) Individuals cannot be on the program more than twice, including serving as chair.
4)
All chairs must register for the conference.
5) The schedule of sessions will be released in mid to late September.
